United Nations - Half the children in Laos are stunted and chronic under-nutrition is a major issue facing the country. To tackle this problem, the Lao government and the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development, or IFAD, worked together on a project which links agricultural production with nutrition so that Lao villagers are not just producing more food but know what food is best to eat and how to prepare it. Now a popular soap opera is teaching people in the most remote parts of the country how and what to cook for better nutrition.
