I recently read a New York Times article that said at 39 years old, I’m considered “midlife”!? “WTF” was my first thought. But then, I thought about some recent changes my body has been making and I realized, “Oh sh*t!? I am midlife!”
Once we hit age 35 to 40, hormonal balance becomes elusive as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol, thyroid, insulin, and leptin may become out of whack. It’s gradual for some and dramatic for others. For some women, it is a time when mood becomes unpredictable, weight climbs, and energy wanes.
