Decarbonizing the Automobile: A Life-Cycle Roadmap | Race To Zero Dialogues

About 20% of an automobile's life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions are generated before it is driven off the lot. New analysis from the Circular Cars initiative shows that with electrification, these emissions from materials and production (mostly batteries) will increase to 60% by 2040. As cars are electrified, how can the automobile sector decarbonize and ensure that emissions from manufacturing do not create a new climate quandary?
