During our trip to Lima, we had the chance to go on a weekend escape to Chincha, which is located about 3 hours south of Lima. Chincha is a fascinating destination because it's a desert area along the coast, but it also happens to be one of the most important agricultural valleys in Peru.
The main attraction in Chincha is Hacienda San Jose, which dates back to 1688. We joined a guided tour to learn about the hacienda's history as a former sugar plantation that once had 87 slaves working the land. We toured the manor, visited the church, and also went into the underground tunnels that once connected this hacienda with other properties in the area.
We also used our time in Chincha to just relax and enjoy quality time with family. Our baby girl splashed around in the pool for the first time, we barbecued with aunt and uncle, and we enjoyed quiet strolls out in the garden.
Our visit to Chincha was brief, but we made some nice memories that we wanted to share here!
