The driest April in 5 decades has left the country’s water reserves starkly depleted. The Rialb reservoir in Catalonia is only 5.69% full. It supplies drinking water to the province of Lleida and is usually 80% full at this time of year. The Baells and La Llosa del Cavall reservoirs are also running at below 25% capacity. Spain just had its warmest April since records began in 1961. Only 22% of the rain typical for April fell, while temperatures were 3°C hotter than average. #spain #drought #heatwave #severeweather #reservoir #drinkingwater #april
