Hi I'm Tessa from the channel Tessa Holly Sparkle. You can find me by searching Tessa Holly in the search bar. Today I've teamed up with Consumer Health Digest to give you 7 different tips that you should do before going to the beach.
It is so, so important to protect your skin from suntans and sunburns. Please make sure you take these tips into consideration before heading out for a beach trip. Number 1, find the best sunscreen for you. You probably already have an idea of how sensitive your skin is to the sun. For example, I'm pretty pale so I always use factor 50 sunscreen all over and remember to reapply it throughout the day, preferably every single hour.
You also want to make sure that you apply your sunscreen before you actually get to the beach so that is has time to soak into your skin. Number 2, don't forget your lips and your eyes. Just wearing sunglasses isn't enough protection for the delicate skin around your eyes. The eye area can be very sensitive so make sure you use a face specific sunscreen to avoid any irritation. For your lips use a lip balm that has a high SPF in it to avoid dry and chapped lips. You don't want to end up with sore skin.
Number 3, look after your skin. Remember to apply moisturizer before your sunscreen to keep extra hydrated. After you get home from a day in the sun apply after sun and a good moisturizer to really rejuvenate the skin.
Number 4, drink lots of water. Hydration is key. It will not only help your insides feel better but it will also help to hydrate your skin and keep it glowing and radiant. Remember to take plenty of water with you to the beach.
Number 5, the best protection from the sun is the shade and cover ups. Use a parasol or umbrella to create shade around you and always wear a hat and sunglasses to keep the sun off your face as much as possible. You can also cover up with your clothing. A loose flowing maxi skirt is a perfect option because it will cover up your legs and stop them getting burnt but it will still keep you breezy and cool.
Number 6, simplify your hairstyle. Keep it off your face so it doesn't get in your way and get sunscreen and sand all over it. A top knot is the perfect way to keep all of your hair out of your face, or if you're going to be wearing a hat then an easy low bun is a great option. I created this by putting my hair into a low ponytail and only half pulling it through on the last tie. You can keep your hair looking extra healthy by using a heat protectant spray to protect it from the sun.
Finally, number 7, opt for light make-up. You don't want a face full of make-up that's just sliding all over the place in the heat when you're sweating. Instead go for something light like a tinted moisturizer, a lip gloss and some waterproof mascara, especially if you're going in the sea. Instead of wearing high coverage make-up you can accessorize with jewelry. Beaded bracelets and stud earrings are a great option because they don't get in your way and they're not likely to fall and get lost in the sand.
