The concept is similar to universal basic income. It would involve making regular, no-strings payments to people living in important conservation areas around the world. The payments would reduce the economic pressures to hunt or harvest precious natural resources or to grow damaging cash crops for export. Payments would also empower local conservation efforts and help local people hold on to their land rather than sell it. #universalbasicincome #conservation #local #safeguard #environment
