Communities across the country—large and small, urban and rural—are recognizing that health is a vital value that helps define American culture. It’s influenced by how and where we work, how and where we live, how we raise and educate our children, and how we make decisions for our families.
The Robert Wood Johnnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize recognizes communities which place a high priority on health for the residents of their cities, towns and neighborhoods. Since 2013, 12 communities have been honored for their efforts to bring partners together and drive local change. Three of these prize winners will join the Foundation on August 14, at 2 p.m. EDT, to discuss what it takes to build a Culture of Health. Each community will talk about the barriers they’ve faced, how they overcame them, and the role partnerships play in their success.
The panelists include:
*Moderator: Julie Willems Van Dijk, co-director, County Health Rankings & Roadmaps, RWJF Culture of Health Prize
*Dino Beckett, CEO of the Williamson Health and Wellness Center, Board Chair of Williamson Redevelopment Authority, representing Williamson, W.Va., a 2014 RWJF Culture of Health Prize winner
*Alisa May, executive director of Priority Spokane, representing Spokane County, Wash., a 2014 RWJF Culture of Health Prize winner
*Stacey King, director of Community Health and Wellness Programs Cambridge Public Health Department, representing Cambridge, Mass., a 2013 RWJF Culture of Health Prize winner
