We recorded this 4k ultra hd video during our trip to Corfu, Greece on June 2021.
Corfu or Kerkyra is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea that forms the margin of the northwestern frontier of Greece. Corfu, the main town of Corfu Island is one of the most appealing cities in Greece due to the strong influence of the Venetians. The town is also influenced by other civilizations including the British, the Normans, the French, and the Romans. The name Corfu, meaning ‘peaks’, refers to its twin hills, each topped by a massive fortress built to withstand Ottoman sieges. Sitting between the two, the Old Town is a tight-packed warren of winding lanes bursting with fine restaurants, lively bars and intriguing shops. The origins of Corfu Town stretch all the way back to the 8th century BCE, when the town was an important commercial center for the Phoenicians. It was under Venetian rule between the 14th and 18th centuries, so there is lots of Venetian architecture around town.
Our guided walking tour is about 1.85 mile (3 km) long and covers most attractions and historic sites of Corfu.
