Are you ready for an easy and festive dog treat made from healthy, natural ingredients? I'm stingy when it comes to ingredients in dog food and treats, so I won't necessarily say oats/oat flour is healthy or necessary for your dog to consume, but that's why it's only offered in small amounts as a treat! I often see people using whole wheat flour and vegetable oil for their homemade dog treats, so I wanted to try my best to incorporate the most species appropriate foods, while also keeping it a fun seasonal cookie.

☆RECIPE:

2 cups of oat flour
½ cup plain applesauce
1 tsp cinnamon
1 pasture raised egg
1 tsp honey
½ tbsp coconut oil

Combine the oat flour, applesauce, cinnamon, and stir. Once they are incorporated together, add in the egg. Mix until combined. Finally, add in the honey and coconut oil. Take the dough out and form it into a ball. Chill for 15 minutes or so, then roll out the dough to desired thickness for the cookie cutters. Line the baking sheet with coconut oil and place the cookies on. Preheat the oven to 350° and let the cookies cook for 15 minutes. If you want them crunchy, bake for 20 minutes or so. If you want them really soft, bake for 10 and refrigerate them when storing.

Optional: melt a few tablespoons of coconut oil and separate into 3 bowls. Add a pinch of activated charcoal to make a black frosting for cats or bats, pumpkin puree to make orange frosting for pumpkins, and leave the last one plain for ghosts. Chill for a few more minutes so the coconut oil can set up.
