Which character will come out on top on Game of Thrones? A Westerosi prophecy suggests that a mythic figure called Azor Ahai could be the one to save Westeros from the White Walkers and win the Game of Thrones. Here's who the myth says it may be.
Following is a transcript of the video:
Winter has come to Westeros. So who will protect the realm?
Azor Ahai is thought to be the legendary Last Hero who saved the world a long time ago during the "Long Night" when the White Walkers attacked from the North with an army of frozen zombies. He led the realm to victory with a flaming sword called "Lightbringer" which he sacrificed his wife to make. The Wall was built to prevent this from happening again.
Melisandre believes Azor Ahai will return “When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone.”
So who really is Azor Ahai?
Melisandre thought it was Stannis Baratheon. He pulled a sword out of the fire by the sea, and sacrificed his daughter to the Lord of Light. But it turns out she was wrong, and now he's dead.
There are two more likely candidates: Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. Daenerys fits most of the requirements. She is a Targaryen, born on the island of Dragonstone near a salty sea. She walked into flames and emerged unscathed, reborn. While a red comet soared overhead. She birthed 3 dragons from stone eggs and her husband Khal Drogo was sacrificed. She doesn't have a sword, but her dragons might be considered "Lightbringer." She is a powerful force who hopes to reclaim the Iron Throne.
Jon Snow also seems to be a perfect fit. Melisandre constantly sees him in her fiery visions. "I pray for a glimpse of Azor Ahai, and R'hllor shows me only Snow." When he was born, a bloody sword called Dawn was leaning on the bed. The sword was made from a fallen star. He caused the death of his love Ygritte. When Jon was killed in the books, his wounds smoked while Bowen Marsh cried salty tears. He has a Valyrian steel sword which can kill White Walkers. He has yet to release any stone dragons. But Season 7 might prove otherwise.
