On March 30, 2012, David N. Hempton, Alonzo L. McDonald Family Professor of Evangelical Theological Studies at HDS, was named the 14th Dean of Harvard Divinity School. In keeping with a long-standing tradition, Harvard President Drew Faust came the HDS campus during the afternoon of March 30 to formally introduce Hempton to the community and invited guests as the new Dean. Hempton succeeds current HDS Dean William A. Graham, who in September 2011 announced his intention to step down from the post at the end of this academic year.
