Martina Maya-Callen, an artist based in Maryland, writes her pain on her body. She was molested beginning at age 8 and has since struggled with disordered eating and self-cutting. Through her performance art pieces, Martina has found the strength to begin loving herself again and inspiring others to do the same.
As part of the original piece, entitled "The Hidden Secret of Eating Disorders," she stood on her campus in a leotard, wrote body-negative things on her body, and gave those who passed by a marker to write kind things instead. Martina discusses her art project and its impact on her mental health.
