A lot of times recipes will call for things to be chopped into a one inch dice or a one inch thick slice and it's kind of annoying to always have a ruler on hand. Instead you can actually use your pinky finger. On most people, from the tip of your pinky to the first line, is about an inch. So, instead of getting out the ruler, just use your pinkly for your one inch chop.
