Power Station at BerkleeNYC will be a state-of-the-art recording and video production facility for the New York City’s music, theater, television, and film industries.
BerkleeNYC, with funds from Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) and the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), will host both free and tuition-based educational programs, performances, and resources for local musicians and will also feature a virtual reality/augmented reality studio.
Berklee plans to continue operating the studio commercially as the re-christened Power Station at BerkleeNYC, restoring the name established by original owner, visionary studio designer Tony Bongiovi.
The project was spearheaded by Pete Muller, who is a singer-songwriter and a member of the Berklee Board of Trustees. Stephen Webber, executive director of BerkleeNYC and dean of Strategic Initiatives, will lead the center and develop programs.
