United Nations - In April 2010, Mongolia was struck by a severe outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), a debilitating livestock virus.
It not only jeopardized food supplies, livelihoods and exports, but also the Mongolian way of life.
Through close collaboration with the IAEA and the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Mongolian scientists and veterinarians
now have the training and equipment they need to quickly respond to further outbreaks.
