After a recent blog on this subject we have had many emails asking about some of the Golden Arches products not available in other parts of the world. We will be on our travels trying out a few of these and reporting back, i have been given the super task of doing a taste test on this. As you can hear from my voice, this is not the sort of thing i like doing. We have to say the McArabia was not surprisingly just like all other McDs product in terms of taste. Bottom line is from this taste test is that it taste the same as all other food they sell. There are many McDonalds products that are aimed at certain regions. In Indian there is the McAloo Tikka, the Mc Curry pan, Japan has the Cheese fondue chicken, carbonara chicken, and the Mc Pork to name just a few. Chocolate and orange pie is available in other outlets around the world as are many other home grown types of burgers. The McArabia is just one of these product aimed at the Middlle East Arab market.
There's more than one way to enjoy our chicken. And you'll like it like this! Two grilled chicken patties with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and garlic sauce lovingly folded in Arabic bread. The McArabia is a pita bread sandwich available at some McDonald's outlets in Arab countries and Pakistan, while it is known as the Grilled Chicken foldover in Singapore and Malaysia, it is also was known as McOriental in Spain, France and Holland, Another name that the sandwich had was the McTurco in Turkey, Greek Mac in Greece and Cyprus, and as the McKebab in Israel the sandwich is made to originally meet Middle Eastern local taste. The Sandwich was introduced as the Greek Mac in 2001 in Greece. The Mcarabia was introduced in Saudi Arabia and UAE on March 2003 due to a sharp fall of profits in 2002,and declared a permanent product, due to boycotts on U.S brands and restaurants over the war on Iraq and claiming that the ingredients were not from local vendors. The first version of the sandwich used grilled chicken with pita bread which was imported from the UK for the first week, then switched to local bakers. In 2004 the Kofta variant was added.
