✎ She started her career as an actor at the age of seven. She trained in ballet from the age of nine. She auditioned for drama school but was turned down twice. At one point, Vikander was admitted to law school but she never attended, following her dreams to become an actress instead. She began her professional acting career by appearing in Swedish short films and television series. She made her feature film debut in Pure, for which she won the Guldbagge Award for Best Actress. She gained wider recognition in 2012 for portraying Kitty in Joe Wright's film adaptation of Anna Karenina. She achieved global recognition for her roles as activist Vera Brittain in Testament of Youth, and a humanoid robot in Ex Machina. She starred in The Danish Girl, for which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2018, she starred as Lara Croft in the adventure film Tomb Raider.
