La detección temprana puede salvar vidas: las tasas de supervivencia son cinco veces mayores cuando se detecta el cáncer de pulmón tempranamente, pero la mayoría de los casos no se diagnostican sino hasta que están en etapas avanzadas. Si los 8 millones de personas que se considera tienen riesgo se sometieran al examen de detección, se podrían salvar unas 25,000 vidas. Se invita a las personas que puedan tener alto riesgo a visitar SalvaTuPulmon.org (español) o SavedByTheScan.org (inglés), donde pueden responder el cuestionario para candidatos al examen de detección del cáncer de pulmón y encontrar información adicional sobre el cáncer de pulmón.
