In June 2014, Sojourners magazine and IMA World Health collaborated to publish "Broken Silence: A Call for Churches to Speak Out," which polled 1,000 protestant pastors on how they understand sex and gender-based violence (SGBV). Using that highly-circulated report as a launch pad, this panel interrogates the ways in which faith leaders are thinking about and responding to SGBV in their communities and congregations. Panelists will discuss the different dimensions of SGBV, whether specific cultural, social, and institutional attitudes enable, facilitate or help combat SGBV, and the roles and responsibilities of faith and community leaders in working with victims and survivors.
