This super easy donut recipe will get you lovely soft donut bits in minutes and with this spiced caramel sauce, you will have found your newest craving!

For the dipping sauce:
125ml/ ½ cup double cream
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
200g/ 1 cup caster sugar
90g/ ¾ stick unsalted butter

For the donuts:
2 large free range eggs
250ml/ 1 cup buttermilk
2 tsp vanilla bean paste
30g/ ¼ stick unsalted butter, melted
300g/ 10 ½ oz plain flour
½ tsp baking powder
3 tbsp caster sugar plus extra to dust
600ml/20 fl oz vegetable oil to fry
