Editor Jesse Averna discusses the techniques used to bring "Sesame Street" to life. From "Sight, Sound & Story" on June 13th, 2015.

Jesse Averna is, for the last six seasons, the series editor for "Sesame Street," for which he has won five Emmys. Jesse also teaches Continuing Ed at the School of Visual Arts, recently directed a new children’s series "Monica’s Mixing Bowl" and is in active development on his own film. He also leads a weekly Twitter chat every Wednesday night for Post Professionals, called #PostChat. When Jesse’s not engaged in the above, or spending time with his family, he’s editing recap promo’s for SyFy’s "12 Monkeys." Basically, he’s a workaholic insomniac with a love for his daughter, Post Production, monsters and droids.

"Sesame Street" is a long-running American children's television series created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett. The program is known for its educational content, and images communicated through the use of Jim Henson's Muppets, animation, short films, humor, and cultural references. The series premiered on November 10, 1969, to positive reviews, some controversy, and high viewership; it has aired on the U.S.'s national public television provider (PBS) since its debut, with its first run moving to premium channel HBO on January 16, 2016.
