Since the start of April, the ocean surface temperature has averaged 21.1°C. Even warmer than the previous record of 21°C set in 2016. Over the past 3 years, the weather pattern La Niña has kept temperatures down. This phenomenon causes cooler ocean temperatures near South America. Now La Niña is over, the brakes are off ocean warming and scientists say climate change is largely driving the temperature increase #ocean #globalwarming #lanina #climatechange
