A Newbies Guide to the home coffee bar: ????????
1. An at-home espresso machine - pay attention to what kind you want, the features (steamer included?), and its capabilities. (Grinder?)
2. An Espresso Grinder - if you don’t have one in your machine. Notice the one in this video. Pick any beans you want and grind them so your espresso shot is smooth. This takes some learning!
3. Portafilter - the portafilter is the big spoon-looking thing that the water runs through after you put in your espresso grind.
4. A Tamping Mat - The tamping mat sits below your tamper when you press down your espresso, so your countertop is protected and doesn’t get scratched. When you tamp your espresso grind inside your tamper, you’ll use a bit of pressure!
5. Shot glass/mug - this one is obvious; just make sure the cup, shot glass or mug fit well underneath your portafilter spout, so the coffee doesn’t drip down the sides!
6. Milk Pitcher - this is what you’ll use to steam your milk! Check out our other YouTube videos teaching you how to use a milk pitcher to get that soft and yummy milk consistency.
7. Scale - to properly measure your beans and grind, you’ll need a small scale that measures everything. This is key to mastering your espresso!
8. A Knock Box - Where do you think the wet grind goes after you’re done brewing? You’ve got to knock it out. We’ve really thought of everything. (See tagged products for options!)
9. Beans! - Select the beans you actually want to taste, because for the first time, you’ll be able to actually taste the flavor notes in your coffee.
