At the height of the #MeToo movement, renowned Shakespearean scholar Tina Packer was invited to Boston Conservatory at Berklee as a Kunkemueller Guest Artist to collaborate on a devised work with contemporary theater students. The result was And Speak I Will, a laboratory workshop that joined the sophomore and junior contemporary theater ensembles in an exploration of sexual harassment through three works of Shakespeare—The Taming of the Shrew, Troilus and Cressida, and Measure for Measure.
Now, a year after the #MeToo movement took hold, watch Packer discuss her artistic choices and reveal the misogynist leanings of early Shakespeare and his Elizabethan society.
