Your first trade really doesn’t matter all that much, and that’s okay. You might be thinking, “I’ve done my research, watched videos, and talked to people online—I know which stock I want.” But now you’re putting a lot of pressure on yourself.

Over a lifetime of trading, you’ll likely execute many trades—maybe thousands each quarter or even each month. The key is that this first trade is about building a routine, a habit, and a process you can follow smoothly.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Start small—trade just one share or one option contract if you’re into options. This way, you’re building habits, discipline, and the skills you need to grow as a trader.

If you place too much importance on this first trade, it could become an emotional challenge if things don’t go as planned.
