Over 100 letters sent to French sailors by their loved-ones have finally been read… 265 years after they were written! ????

They include heart-breaking love letters and startling evidence of family quarrels.

The letters were seized by Britain’s @RoyalNavy during the Seven Years’ War and forgotten about until Cambridge historian Professor Renaud Morieux opened them at @TheNationalArchivesUK .

Renaud Morieux is Professor of European History from the Faculty of History and a Fellow of @Pembroke1347 .
