Each year, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres makes a Ramadan visit of solidarity. This year, he travelled to Christchurch, New Zealand to pay tribute to the victims of the mosque attacks which took place there in March. He said hate speech on social media is spreading like wildfire and must be extinguished. "There is no room for hate speech online or offline,” he said. "I wanted to come here personally to transmit love, support and total and complete admiration." He added that he was moved but not surprised by the poignant stories of compassion and grace from Christchurch.
