What is an adverb? An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. An adverb tells us how, where, when, how much, or how often. To put it another way, there are adverbs of manner, place, time, degree, and frequency. Further, we can speak of evaluative adverbs, which express an opinion about a whole clause, and linking or conjunctive adverbs, which connect two sentences or two parts of a sentence.
