Easy Solar uses solar power to light up homes in Sierra Leone, providing lamps and electricity to some of the world’s poorest people.
The company sells lamps for just the price of a small deposit, then people can pay the rest off slowly. Easy Solar has brought power to more than 200,000 people, created more than 300 jobs and saves households more than $5 million in power costs every year.
87% of people in Sierra Leone lack access to a reliable electricity grid, that’s 6.5 million people.
In this video Easy Solar founders, Enyonam Nthabiseng Masia and Alexandre Tourre discuss the company’s origins and their vision for the future of energy in Africa.
