Loneliness can be a big issue facing some people living in big cities - especially the elderly. And there are various schemes to try and help address isolation. One council in London is encouraging older people out of their home with a free cycle service... using specially adapted bikes.

loneliness – feeling of sadness due to lack of company
disability – condition where someone can't use a part of their body or brain in the usual way
carers – people who give assistance to the elderly or disabled
