Eastman to Go brings talented students from the Eastman School of Music out into the Rochester community to play for audiences of all ages and to offer insights into music which may be unfamiliar to the listeners. Eastman to Go is an updated version of Eastman’s Music for All program, which began in 1995 and led the way for American music schools and conservatories in training their students how to engage new audiences. Through Eastman to Go, students will be performing throughout the greater Rochester area, not only in schools, but also in community venues such as hospitals, local businesses, libraries, churches, senior centers, and more.
As educational and community performances become a significant part of a performer’s job description, the skills acquired and refined through participating in Eastman to Go become indispensable tools for working musicians. The goal is to prepare graduates to assume roles of musical leadership in their communities through the experiences and education they receive at Eastman, and to influence the way the world hears music in the coming century.
