What does it mean to be ecological in an urban context? Since the 2009 conference held at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, the Ecological Urbanism project has generated a thoughtful and timely theoretical construct to articulate an alternative and sustainable future for cities. The Ecological Urbanism application continues this effort by compiling and exhibiting the most relevant contributions to the field through a unique and interpretive interactive experience.
Combining diverse multimedia content with case studies from around the globe, it explores alternative and radical approaches to sustainability at a range of urban scales. The relational display of information reveals and locates current practices, emerging trends and opportunities for new initiatives.
The Ecological Urbanism application is the result of a successful collaboration between Harvard Graduate School of Design and Second Story Interactive Studios.
