Argentum: Double-Positive is a new installation created by artist Jim Sanborn at the Memorial Art Gallery, which consists of two projection cylinders in front of the 1913 building. These bronze cylinders are perforated with a series of texts that light up at night (with the aid of an internal point source light) and be projected widely onto the facade and surrounding landscape at MAG. The texts specifically highlight the creativity and invention that have been the core industry of the city of Rochester for decades.
They were officially lit for the first time on June 29, 2017 with a crowd of several hundred in attendance. The installation will continue to light up each night, adding to the spectacle of Centennial Sculpture Park.
