Diagnosed with ALS, Gloria Taylor (1948-2012) spent what would be the last year of her life fighting a very public battle for the right to die with dignity. Gloria was at the centre of a successful British Columbia Supreme Court challenge that briefly overturned the ban on assisted suicide; in turn, the Supreme Court of Canada has recently agreed to review the country's assisted suicide laws and ruled that assisted suicide become legal in Canada. This intimate documentary by Okanagan-based filmmaker David McIlvride chronicles Gloria's perseverance and victory in court, the personal indignities she faced, and the growing relationship between her and McIlvride.
