United Nations - Soon after Hurricane Matthew struck La Grande Anse and other parts of the south of Haiti, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and its partners, such as non-governmental organization ACTED, mobilized quickly with their response. For example, members of ACTED's Rapid Cholera Intervention Team were the first official responders from outside the region to arrive in the commune of Anse d’Hainault. Most emergency supplies faced access challenges in reaching certain regions at the time, however, ACTED teams were able to reach communes that had yet to received aid. Hurricane Matthew caused widespread damage, flooding and displacement. A few days after it struck, a flash appeal was launched to respond to the most urgent humanitarian needs of people seriously affected by the hurricane. As of 21 November, only 45 per cent of the appeal - which has now been increased to $139 million - has been funded, leaving a gap of $76 million.
