Hey, guys. Welcome back to my channel. Today, I'm going to be talking about prepping your skin before you apply your makeup. Now, before you prep your skin, it is really important to have a good skincare routine. Check out my video, which is linked below, on how to care for your skin.
The first thing you want to do is moisturize your skin. Before you apply any makeup, it is really important to nourish your skin. Most moisturizers will have an SPF, which will protect your skin from harmful UVA rays. Again, it will also act as a barrier between your foundation and your skin. It will stop all your foundation sinking into your pores and things like that. Also, if you have dry skin, it will stop the foundation sinking into really dry patches, or any lines, or wrinkles.
The second thing you can do is prime your skin. Priming your skin is not a necessity, but oily and dry skins can benefit from using a primer because if you have oily skin, it will give your foundation something to stick to, and it will stop it from sliding off your face throughout the day. If you have dry skin, the primer will make your skin lovely and soft, and you will find that your foundation will apply a lot better and a lot smoother than if you didn't use a primer.
Some primers have other benefits. For example, L'Oreal's Lumi will give your skin a gorgeous glow and also Benefit's POREfessional is tinted so it will even out your skin tone and texture, but it will also cover large pores.
The third you can do is apply an eye cream. Your under eyes are the driest area of your face no matter what your skin type, so it will benefit you to use an eye cream because it will stop your foundations and your powders sinking into your expression lines or your wrinkles. Some eye creams also have anti-aging properties, so if you are 25 or older, this will benefit you because it will prevent premature aging. Also, some eye creams come in gel form, which you can keep in the fridge so this will soothe any under eye puffiness.
The fourth thing you can do is moisturize your lips. You can moisturize your lips with a Vaseline, a Carmex or any type of lip balm, and you can do this about 10 minutes before you apply your lipstick. I promise you, it'll make your lipstick and your lip gloss apply 10 times smoother than it would have done beforehand.
The last and most important thing you can do is to prime your lids. It is super dee duper important. Although I don't prime my face, I always make sure I prime my lids. It will stop your eye shadows from creasing throughout the day, and it'll make them last longer. I think it also makes your eye shadows look better and blend better as well. You don't have to go out and buy a primer. I use a concealer and powder, and I think it works just as well, if not, better.
That's pretty much it for my prepping your skin video. I hope you like this video and I hope it helps you, guys. My next video will be on photographic makeup
