Every single person on the planet has times when they feel down – that’s human nature. The thing is, those who are able to take control of their psychological and emotional state are better able to live a fulfilling life. It’s tempting to think that our mood and mindset is outside of our control, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

You can reset your mind in an instant, if you know how to. To change your mood, you need to turn to movement. When you’re feeling down or stressed, what is your body doing? Chances are, you’re slumped over with bad posture, unable to make eye contact with the people around you or fidgeting.

Change your body and your mind will follow. When you feel a bad mood coming on, try sitting up straight. Put your shoulders back. Make eye contact with the people around you, and try smiling, even if you don’t feel like it. Once your body feels that it’s being put into a happier state, your mind and emotions will follow.

Then, you know how to change your mood when you feel a negative emotion coming on. Again, it’s normal to experience ups and downs, but if you’re able to establish true emotional control and can turn your state around more quickly, you’ll find a greater sense of joy and fulfillment in life.
