We arrived in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia a few days before learning Hurricane Fiona was heading this way. This video is a collection of random clips we filmed over the course of 3 days as the storm was approaching, during the storm, and later, in the aftermath. Once post-tropical storm Fiona hit, we lost power, so we weren't aware of the extent of the damage and the devastation it caused to many communities in Atlantic Canada.
We're going to be donating to the Canadian Red Cross who are offering humanitarian assistance in affected areas (the Canadian government is matching donations made for Hurricane Fiona if you're inclined to donate), and aside from that, I think the best thing we can do is help support local tourism in Atlantic Canada once it's safe to do so. https://donate.redcross.ca/page/114083/donate
We're grateful to the people we met in Cape Breton - for all the advice, warmth, and hospitality they showed us during this time. The community spirit here is on another level and we were made to feel like family during this natural disaster.
