Inspiring teen speaks at UN a year after fleeing Syria | UNICEF

When he was just 13, Mustafa fled Syria and survived a dangerous journey across the Mediterranean with his mother. His incredible story inspired ‘Unfairy Tales: Mustafa goes for a walk’:

Since then, he has settled in Hof, Germany and become a youth advocate. We were honoured to have Mustafa join us to mark our 70th anniversary at the United Nations in New York. He shared his wish for children around the world and visited the Statue of Liberty. A staggering sixty-five million children are on the move – displaced by conflict, poverty and extreme weather, looking for a better life and a place to call home.
