Setting Default Programs
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Setting default programs in Windows 7 means when you double-click or execute an item, it automatically goes into that default program.
1. Click on the Start menu (bottom left of screen).
2. Click on Control Panel in the new menu.
3. Among the list of computer settings, click on Programs.
4. Select Default Programs from the new list.
5. At the top of this new list, click on Set your default programs.
6. If you want Wordpad documents to automatically open in OpenOffice, click on OpenOffice to highlight it, then at the bottom of the screen, click on Set this program as default.
7. You can also Choose defaults for this program, which will prompt a list of files this program will open. If you want Firefox to open specific file types, click on Firefox followed by Choose defaults for this program and select the files you want it to open (clicking tabs to checkmark them). Hit Save at the bottom right of the screen.
8. Now whenever you double-click an icon it will open up with the exact program specified.
