You’ll be learning English in this video as you study with me and work your way through this lesson for Advanced students of English. This video is made for students studying English as a Second Language (ESL).

The content discussed here—the 6 sounds created by the letter combination “oo”—will benefit you most if you are an advanced student. If you feel that this content is too advanced, simply check out the other videos on my channel!

When non-native speakers are learning English it’s typical to focus on vocabulary and grammar. What’s often missed is a commitment to pronunciation. But not just a word-by-word focus will do either.

What you need, instead, is to learn spoken English in the same way that native speakers have learned it: by mastering each sound through repetition and practice.

This video works in detail with the 6 sounds created by the letters “oo”. I break down each of these sounds, teach you the precise pronunciation of each and make sure that you’re working with each of them in the way that a native speaker of English would.

There is simply no better way to improve your spoken English than to listen to and repeat the sounds that native speaking master teacher is making…that’s where I come in!

In this ESL lesson we see the complexity of sounds in American English. It’s true that because English is not a phonetic language it’s more challenging.

But as an advanced student you should benefit greatly from this kind of in-depth look at a few sounds. Use this video as an online English lesson. Stop, repeat and replay this lesson as many times as you need to. I know it’s not the same as being able to raise your hand and ask a question in an actual classroom, but an online English school has its benefits. Chief among these? The opportunity to listen as many times as necessary to each part of this video.

Do as many repetitions as you need to! And remember, because this is an advanced English lesson you should expect it to be challenging. Don’t get frustrated…just do another repetition! 

Good luck learning the pronunciation of the sounds created by “oo”. I think you’ll actually have a lot of fun as you work with the material. And, of course!, there’s nothing better than getting to the end of a difficult lesson and feeling like “Wow! I’ve got it!”. I hope that’s where you’ll end up today.
