As many of you know, Shaun and I have an AMAZING son named #Daxton! We adopted Dax into our family in 2008, and have since learned that he has autism. Today, we are answering some of your questions regarding #autism to the best of our ability, based on our own personal journey with Daxton.
My Feelings Box For Kids:
We are not doctors or health care professionals of any sort. We simply want to be super raw and honest with you guys about this huge, impactful part of our lives. With this platform, we have been given an amazing opportunity to educate, and share experiences about a topic that affects so many people. Any time that we hear families openly talking about their personal journey with a loved one with ADHD and autism, we always end up feeling very connected, and understood.
We have learned SO much just from raising Daxton. He is such an incredible young man, and has given us a whole new perspective on patience, as well as compassion. Being his mom has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life, but also one of the most rewarding. We have come across so many spectacular people who have helped us along the way, and given us so much inspiration. We continue to learn new things every day, and we are constantly growing as people because of Daxton. We are so lucky to have our little handsome man in our lives! ❤️
Autism does not define Daxton. His talents and skills are often far superior to ours. We tell him it’s like his super power.
While it has been challenging for us to adapt our parenting to accommodate how his mind works, we will do absolutely anything we can to give him the BEST chance to succeed in his dreams and goals for his life.
