En 2013, 3,154 personas murieron y se calcula que otras 424,000 sufrieron lesiones por accidentes de tránsito debido a conductores distraídos. Manejar distraídos es muy peligroso y los adolescentes son uno de los grupos que más incurre en este comportamiento. Según un informe de la Administración Nacional de Seguridad del Tráfico en Carreteras, 15% de los conductores de entre 15 y 18 años manejaban distraídos por el uso de sus celulares.
