United Nations - On 31 December, Major-General Michael Lollesgaard will step down as Force Commander of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). Recently interviewed by UN News in New York, he reflects on the situation in the country where the UN has deployed its "most dangerous peacekeeping mission." While attacks by armed groups and the need for more equipment and troops are challenging, Gen. Lollesgaard sees hope in the peace agreement and recent additional commitments by Member States. The Force Commander joined the Mission on 6 March 2016
