In the second talk of the Art at Oxford Saïd series, author and art historian Michael Bird introduced the work of a succession of artists who were associated with St Ives in Cornwall – bringing, as he said, ‘a little ocean sound and vision’ into a lecture theatre in the city that is about as far as you can get from the sea in England.
