Norbertines: Stift Wilten,Innsbruck (Austria) • Abbeys and Monasteries

The Norbertine monastery of Wilten was founded in 1138. In its present form it is a baroque monastery, dating from the seventh cenrtury, which looks beautfiful in the snowy environment of Innsbruck in winter. The monastery, with its prosperous hall and interesting rooms full of paintings, is a community centre where the Norbertine priests provide spiritual care for parishioners coming from far and wide; all these churches are benefactoions from a long and fascinating past.
