On October 25 and 26, 2005, Harvard Divinity School hosted the inaugural meeting of the Leadership Council, a group of distinguished individuals from across the professional spectrum, all of whom share an interest in religion and religious studies. The theme of the two-day event was "Religion and Civil Society."
