They used planes to shoot pulses of light into the forests of Mexico and Guatemala. They discovered 177km of stone roadways. Some were 40 metres wide and elevated 5 metres off the ground. It could be the world’s first highway network. In total, the planes found almost 1,000 new settlements, including 417 cities.
