Astronomers at the University of Cambridge have helped identify seven planets which are orbiting a star 39 light years from Earth. The TRAPPIST-1 star is not much bigger than Jupiter so much smaller than the Sun. The discovery raises the possibility of life existing beyond our own solar system since some of the planets could have liquid water on their surfaces. Dr Amaury Triaud, from the Institute of Astronomy, told Paul Seagrove more about the research.
